Multiprocessing systems

When developing new products whose grinding properties cannot be predicted, the greatest possible flexibility is often required. For example, it may be necessary to switch back and forth between different types of mill, or a classifier or classifying mill must be added. But several systems take up a lot of space and often make the production process inefficient.

For these tasks, multiprocessing systems have proven to be the perfect solution. In these mobile, very flexible system concepts, two or more different mill types are integrated into one system periphery. Therefore, it is possible to quickly switch between the required units.

Advantages using Alpine multiprocessing systems (MPA)

  • Greatest possible flexibility
  • Well-known and proven Alpine mills, only in a smaller design
  • Small-batch production on a qualified, GMP-compliant plant
  • Use of a scale-up-capable process technology
  • Short changeover and assembly times as well as easy cleaning due to optimised dismantling capability
  • Compact system design on a laboratory scale
  • System ready for operation on delivery

Principle of operation

The basis of this concept is the use of a basic module that combines all the additional components of a grinding/classifying system (frame, dosing, fittings, separator filter, control system, etc.). With a few simple steps, various modules can then be integrated to realise different grinding and classifying processes in a single machine.

The size of a multiprocessing system is based on similar batch sizes, product throughputs, process gas volume flow, etc. The system’s design ensures that the process can be carried out in a single machine. Dosing units, fittings, drives, product filters, blowers, etc. can be optionally used by various mill types.

The advantages of this solution are obvious: in addition to the great flexibility - with later retrofitting also possible - there are reduced investment costs and a reduced effort in documentation and validation.

Multiprocessing systems are available from small R&D laboratory systems to large production systems.

Features

  • Different mill types share common system peripherals
  • High flexibility in the production of different products
  • Modular design: Optional use of carious machine modules
  • Fast changeover
  • Reduced investment costs
  • Reduced documentation and validation effort

Applications

Our customers like to use multiprocessing systems for the development of new products. They often have the same mill types or plants in use "in large scale" in their production and use the compact multiprocessing systems to refine recipes or find the best possible product quality. Research institutes and the R&D departments of larger companies also use our multimill systems.

The individual areas of application range from R&D in the food and chemical industries to pharmaceutical production and the production of rare earths in the minerals & metals sector.

Picoline: Small-scale multiprocessing system

Hosokawa Alpine has developed the Picoline especially for processing the smallest product quantities from less than one gram to a few grams. The miniature machine consists of a platform, various function modules and accessories.

The function modules - for dry grinding and sifting, wet grinding as well as mixing and particle design - are derived from the well-known production line series. This allows you to develop a manufacturing process that can be scaled up at a later date to production equipment. In this way, costly misdevelopments can be prevented.
